Last Night Was National Night Out!
The 24th annual National Night Out Was Last night (Tuesday August 07, 2007) and it was a "HOT!" night for me.
The temperature when I was setting up was 93 degrees, and unfortunate for me the location I would be had no shade until the sun went down after 8:00 p.m.
I did set up a canopy tent to help block some of the sun but 93 degrees is still 93 degrees.
The neighborhood I live in and coordinated/performed National Night Out is only three years old and a third of the area is still being built. In fact I watched the builders laying down a layer of tar on the street next to where I was as I set up my equipment.
Between 80 & 100 of the neighbors enjoyed the festivities last night. We had KFC Chicken and one of the committee members BBQ a load of hot dogs. There was also pop, water & lemonade along with snack chips and Ice cream bars.
We had several fun games that the children played and everyone took home a prize.
I also played "Name That Tune" for the adults several times during the course of the three hours and the winners won gift certificates in $5 & $10 to Restaurants, S.A. Gas cards and Target gift Cards.
One of the highlights was when the hook and ladder fire truck showed up and allowed the kids and adults to get in/on and play with the whistles and horns.
The Police department sent over a car along with the city attorney for an appearance to speak with the group about safety and our local government.
Over all even with the heat it turned out to be a great event and we look forward to next year at the big 25th Anniversary of National Night Out!
