Sound Technology of the Future part 4

It seems I just can't stop talking about my BOSE P.A.S. B1 l1 sound system.

I did a wedding where I and the dance floor were in a completely separate room from the dinning area. The bridal couple and I spoke about being in two separate rooms and the basic background/dinner music situation.

They were an older couple who did not want any background/dinner music because most of the guests were also older and they just wanted a nice, quiet dinner.

The room I was in was also used as the cocktail hour with drinks and snacks so I played the music as selected by the couple. When they moved into the other room down the hall one of the hotel staff managers came to me and gave me a "house" wireless microphone.

I asked him what he thought I needed this for and he told me for Dinner music in the other room. “All the DJs place the microphone in front of one of the speakers and use the "house" wireless microphone to transmit music to the other room.”

I couldn't help but give a little chuckle and say to him that I could not and would not do this. When he asked why I pointed to the BOSE towers and said, I have 28 speakers in each of the two towers, each speaker is for a separate frequency. Each tower divides the instruments used in the recording to a different one of the 28 speakers and then of course it also has four sub units that acts in the same way with the different bass tones.

"Which speaker frequency would you like to hear in the other room?"

Again he replied "all the other DJ's do it"

All the other DJ's are pushing the sound and all the frequencies through typically one speaker and horn and even with that, I would have to imagine the sound they are transmitting through your "house" speakers is less then adequate and well below the quality of sound I will produce with my BOSE system.

I did explain to him this couple did not wish to have any background/dinner music and have discussed this with me.

At the end of that night he came back up to me and really started asking questions about the BOSE system. He loved the sound and wanted a pair for his house!
