DJ's advertising on E-Bay!
Is this the latest craze in advertising for Disc Jockeys?
I was on e-bay looking around for a few of my favorite things when I came across several Disc Jockeys who had advertisements on e-bay for their service.
It was amazing and actually shocking to see these ads. One guy was offering a 4 hour event anywhere in North or South America, Europe, Asia or Australia for only $365.00 His 6 hour package was only $450. The DJ is located in Connecticut so I’m guessing he must fly for free or tacks on a hefty charge for travel. (neither was mentioned in the ad) The best part was he listed it as $365.00 or BEST OFFER. Which means he could go out for much less!
To me this seems like a step towards desperation to post ads on e-bay. People, like me are shopping e-bay looking for incredible LOW priced deals on items, not for QUALITY entertainment for a Wedding.
Most of these ads boasted that they were “Professional” DJs with quality EQUIPMENT.
They must not of heard my seminar “To Be or Not To Be Professional” at the Northern DJ conference back in October 2006.
From what I could see most had one (equipment) or two of the 20 attributes I described that qualifies a person to use the word “Professional” in their ad description.
Maybe I’m completely wrong and advertising on E-bay is the wave of the future. Maybe we will all one day advertise on e-bay and again have to fight against the lowest priced guy who is willing to give away his time, talent and skills for pennies on the dollar instead of getting paid what we are worth, making a livable wage and sharing precious time with our friends and families.
Go to e-bay and type in Disc Jockeys, or DJ service or Wedding DJs. Each has different jockeys with their ads. I found a total of 8 advertising on e-bay when I looked.
